It is that time of year again and we are gearing up for our holiday mini-sessions. This year we’ve partnered with TinyPrints.com to offer you a great selection of holiday cards at affordable prices.

Holiday mini-sessions begin October 15th and run through December 3rd. The cost is $50 for a 30 minute studio or on-location session and you will receive one image from the session to use for your card. Book your session by November 15th and get a bonus 5×7 FREE.
The cost of greeting cards is not included in the price as you will purchase your cards directly from TinyPrints.com. Additional photos/prints from the session can be purchased at a 10% discount off our normal rates. Please call or email me for more information.

The theme for this week’s challenge is “wide open”. Meaning we could interpret wide open as wide open space, lens wide open, or wide angle lens. I choose lens wide open, which means I had this lens (my 50mm) set to the widest aperture when I took this picture. That causes a very shallow depth of field, hence you see no clear background even though this photo was shot during the day in the clients living room. Only the nose is sharp the rest of Ringo’s face is soft. I happen to love this shot. One of my all time favorite artsy photos (great dog too, btw!).

Now let’s head over and see what Steph Skardal has for us this week. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
Today I want you all to meet these two Shih-Tzu cutie’s, Breck and Sasha (oh, yeah Sasha, the darker one is also half Tibetan Terrier). They came by the studio this past weekend for their hour in the spot light and despite not being sure what to make of the lights and the lady with the big black thing in front of her face, the warmed up nicely and consented to pose for me. They are clearly adored by their humans, brought some very cute outfits to model in and had some cool bling too! We even made it outside where they jumped right in the hammock ready for some relaxing! Thanks Sashi for bringing your babies in, we had fun!

It is always a sad day when I learn of the passing of one of my clients and this week I learned that Murray the cat from DogTime.com lost his fight with cancer. I photographed Murray in August and ironically it was ‘Smile for a Cure’ session because the staff at DogTime.com wanted to donate money to the cause. He was sweet elder cat who, while obviously not thrilled with my sticking a camera in his face, put up with it good naturedly. On dogtime.com there is a very nice article about Murray, I include the link for those of you who want to know more about him and the folks at dogtime.com who rescued him. For me, I’m glad I had the chance to meet Murray.

Today I want you to meet Wyatt, my second session from last weekend. While it was sunny and beautiful everywhere else that day, by the time we got to Baker beach the fog had rolled in. Ah well, Wyatt looked pretty good against an all white backdrop! We were lucky though because about 20 minutes into the session the fog burned off and the backdrop turned into blue sky and the Golden Gate Bridge. I do love the Bay Area!
Wyatt is a 110 pound Bloodhound who loves his ball. Really, really, really loves his ball! Did I mention the ball…….

But the ball wasn’t the only attraction for Wyatt at the beach, there was the water and waves too; he likes to frolic along the shore. I had a blast photographing Wyatt and playing ball (or rather keep away) with him. Thanks Josephine (from Call Josephine Pet Sitting Services) for bringing Wyatt to the beach and letting us all romp that day!
