I don’t limit myself to just dog and cat portraits, but I haven’t had many opportunities yet to branch out to other creatures.  Until the other day when I met Hughey the white rabbit.  Hughey resides at Rabbit Ears Pet Suppy in El Cerrito and is currently awaiting a nice family that will make him their own.  This is a rather unique pet store in that they not only sell supplies for all pets, but they actively participate in small animal adoptions.  They also sponsor monthly events like the book signings happening this month and in December, yours truly will be having a show there.

Judy, the owner of Rabbit Ears, was explaining to me that white rabbits are difficult to find homes for because of their red eyes.  That seems pretty silly to me; after all the color of a pet has no bearing on the temperament or lovability of that animal, but I’ve also heard that black animals are hard to find homes for too.  Really, really silly.  Do you know anyone who needs a cuddly bunny to love?  Check out all the critters at Rabbit Ears, maybe your new best friend is waiting for you there.

My beloved resident artist has just finished Lily’s first (of many I’m sure) vintage pet poster.  Check out Lily Tiger.

Now I have my own customized Lisa Hayle original.  Don’t you want one too of your own pet?

Thanks Lis and Happy Birthday to my favorite artist.

Meet goose, an absolutely adorable 5 month old mix with a considerable amount of puppy enthusiasm and curiosity.  He didn’t sit still much, but then what puppy can at Tilden Park?

Goose was a rescued by Jacki Stears, a local dog trainer, whom I first met while taking a class at Berkeley Humane.  Jacki also runs her own dog walking service.  If your looking for help with your dog(s) check out Jacki’s services at Dog Along.  In the meantime, enjoy Goose.
